Backstory

A classically trained vocalist and pianist, Ava received full music scholarships to Bethune-Cookman University and continued her studies at Florida State University’s School of Music. As an artist herself, she understands the creative process and the importance of preserving a distinct voice. Her training sharpened her sense of narrative, timing, and audience connection, informing how she shapes stories for clients across industries. She later brought that foundation to magazine development and to concept development and public relations at Pulse Event Marketing under the Purple Ribbon imprint. Early work supporting Idris Elba alongside entertainment executive Oronde Garrett further grounded her in entertainment communications.

Before founding AMPR, Ava built her career creating EPKs, developing television and film concepts, and designing original pitch presentations. Known for combining compelling narratives with editorial design, she helped clients give their ideas a clear voice and visual identity. Through AMPR’s creative division, actor and television host Terrence J commissioned narrative and visual presentation work for his original television concepts. AMPR’s presentation work also includes the 25th-anniversary television pitch for the Super Bowl Soulful Celebration, which helped secure national broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.

Ava served as comedian Earthquake’s publicist for more than 25 years and continues collaborating with him on select projects. Her deep roots in comedy, longstanding industry relationships, and understanding of comedians’ distinct voices sustain her ongoing work across the field, from representation and focused publicity campaigns to creative development. She is also the longstanding publicist for award-winning director and executive producer Crystle Roberson Dorsey, whose work spans major productions within Ryan Murphy’s television universe.

AMPR’s broader client and campaign history includes launch campaigns for Techie Homes and founder and CEO Booker T. Washington; publicity for Travis Payne surrounding the Michael biopic release; the Eric Garner documentary investor campaign; and a Black Music Month campaign for Grammy Award-winning artist Speech, co-founder of Arrested Development. AMPR also handled publicity for Marsai Martin’s Sai’s Summer Cookout, an HBCU-centered event series launched by the Black-ish star who made history as Hollywood’s youngest executive producer.

AMPR’s work extends to content creators and social media personalities seeking to grow their visibility beyond their own platforms. For relationship commentator and digital creator Truth Hurts, AMPR developed publicity materials and coordinated radio and podcast interviews, bringing his conversations about relationships, accountability, and respect to broader audiences. AMPR helps creators translate a recognizable online voice into a clear media narrative, positioning their perspectives and personal stories for interviews, features, and opportunities beyond the feed.

Today, Ava leads AMPR’s work across publicity, communications, and creative development. She serves in Fanbase’s Communications Department and is Isaac Hayes III’s publicist of record, with work that includes communications supporting efforts to protect his father’s intellectual property. AMPR’s expanding roster also includes newly signed legacy architect and cultural thought leader Lauren Rosa Miller, founder of In The Room With Legacy™ and Chief Growth Officer of Miller³ Consulting.

Alongside ongoing representation, AMPR manages select publicity campaigns, develops original concepts, and creates pitch materials for talent, entrepreneurs, and organizations across industries. Across these engagements, AMPR brings an artist’s sensitivity to voice and a strategist’s ability to recognize a story’s larger possibilities.
